Global cooperation needed to fight ISIS
11/15/2015 9:24:00 PM
Now that the ISIS has surpassed Al Qaeda and the Taliban in perpetuating violence that includes dance of death it should be a source of worry to all developed and developing nations. Well if Pakistan feels that it has no threat from the ISIS it should realize that there is no guarantee for violence free Pakistan because even mild provocation can enrage ISIS activists and spell the doom. What was the fault of people, innocent people, over 130, who lost their lives when a group of eight ISIS terrorists attacked with assault rifles and bombs at various crowded places in Paris. More than 200 were injured in these attacks. Their fault was that the establishment in Paris had joined hands with Washington in the US war against terror, terror of any sort, especially war against the ISIS in Syria. Was there any reason for Paris to avoid joining hands with Washington in the war against terror when right from 1962 to 2015 France has been tormented by intermittent terrific attacks from Islamist terrorists. This is what happened in Paris on Friday. A series of attacks targeting young concert-goers, soccer fans and Parisians enjoying a Friday night out at popular nightspots killed nearly 130 people in the deadliest violence to strike France since World War II. President Francois Hollande condemned it as terrorism and pledged that France would stand firm against its foes. The worst carnage was at a concert hall hosting an American rock band, where scores of people were held hostage and attackers ended the standoff by detonating explosive belts. Paris Prosecutor Francois Molins said as many as five attackers were killed, though it was not clear how many there were altogether and how many, if any, were still at large. Authorities said the death toll could exceed 130 for at least six sites, including the national stadium and a tight circle of popular nightspots were targetted. The attack unfolded with two suicide bombings and an explosion outside the national stadium during a soccer match between the French and German national teams. Within minutes, according to Paris police chief Michel Cadot, another group of attackers sprayed cafes outside the concert hall with machine gunfire, then stormed inside and opened fire on the panicked audience. As police closed in, they detonated explosive belts, killing themselves. In the light of these deadly attacks by the terrorists, especially from the ISIS activists, time has come for world wide cooperation among developed and developing nations so that a muti-phased and multi-directional operations against the terrorists were launched. It would be wrong if the world depended only on Washington which is in the forefront of those nations that are engaged in war against terror. It is certainly wrong if people and political leaders all over the world consider these ISIS attacks an internal matter of France or that of Syria or that of any other country. It would be wrong if the activities and violence being perpetrated by Pakistan backed militants in India, including its State of Jammu and Kashmir is treated as an internal matter of India. Terror and activities of terrorists, especially those belonging to the ISIS, have assumed international dimensions. It is no longer confined to one nation or a couple of nations. Hence there is need for global approach to tackling the menace of terror. It is time that Russia and China too join hands with the US, France, Germany, India and other nations engaged in war against ISIS. For ensuring peace in the world it is necessary to combat and control the ISIS.
