Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 15: As the Estates Department is struggling to provide choicest accommodation to big wigs in the power, it is unable to make available even normal to the junior Ministers who are entitled to bunglows, courtesy some non entities in politics who are still enjoying A class Government residential house on account of their strong connections in the present PDP-BJP alliance Government. While many ex Congress and NC ministers were asked to vacate the accommodation, a leader of a smaller opposition party is enjoying this privilege without any resistance from any quarter.
Sources said having shortage and crunch of bunglows in both the capital cities, the authorities in Estates Department are unable to provide to a couple of ministers who are waiting to get it here in Jammu too, Darbar having been shifted to winter capital. PDP's Aashia Naqash and Majid Paddar has yet to get this though they should have got it earlier, sources said. In addition to them there are not less than 20 MLAs from both the ruling parties who are looking forward to getting residential accommodation but are not getting it as these stand occupied by the ex ministers and legislators who are not ready to vacate them despite directions from the Court too from time to time, sources said.
However, what is causing heartburn and is seen as utter violation of rules is the bunglow which stands occupied by the smaller opposition leader who is neither a minister nor MLA this time. He was provided this ministerial bunglow in 2002 when he became the Minister and continues to occupy this for the last 9 years, sources said, adding this is in the posh locality and having all facilities to which a cabinet minister is entitled to. What has raised many an eyebrows now is the fact that despite facing the crunch of accommodation Estates Department authorities are not daring to get this vacated. However, there is a reason for their inaction and inability to do so, sources said. The said leader has very good relations with the Government leadership which has allowed him to continue his stay in the said bunglow , Not only this privilege, on account of his strong connections in the ruling party at the top level, the leader is also having his say in many matters where even ministers cannot intervene, the sources further said.
