JAMMU, Nov 15 : Vidit Gowri today emerged as new senior snooker champion in the 23rd Jammu District Billiards and Snooker Championship being held under the banner of J&K Billiards and Snooker Association (JKBSA) at Billiards Hall, MA Stadium, here. In the title clash, Vidit outplayed equally good and fighting Abhishek Gupta 4-3 in best of seven frames game. Losing the opening frame 26-64, Vidit fought back and won following two frames to turn the pressure on his opponent. However, Abhi managed to level the frame score 2-2 winning the fourth 64-17. The all important game remained a cliffhanger till Vidit clinched the deciding seventh frame to make it 4-3 win. The score: 26-64, 52-44, 66-26, 17-64, 54-15, 39-55, 57-24. Meanwhile, semifinals line-up has been drawn in the junior snooker event of the district Srinagar. Azan, Faisal, Aamir and Owais have made it to the last four stages. Earlier, in the fourth quarterfinal, decided today, Azan Rashid defeated Zuhaib in straight frames of 44-33, 83-20. Similarly, in senior snooker event, Raahil and Imran Wani today qualified for the semifinals. In the quarterfinals, played today, Raahil beat Younis Kuchey 29-56, 55-07, 26-73, 71-43, 73-40 while Imran Wani trounced Waseem Shah 68-36, 58-45, 31-53, 66-41. |
