Early Times Report

JAMMU, Feb 2 : With PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti toughening her stand on Government formation demanding full assurance by Centre on various promises made with it during formation of alliance by two parties earlier indicates that the Governor's rule will continue for more time in the State.
Mehbooba who met Governor N N Vohra here today prior to the meeting of BJP leaders with him said that here Party needed full assurance from Centre as the situation in J&K is totally different than other states of India.
She said that Centre should fully back the State government in its development and also fulfill the commitments made in agenda of alliance as early as possible.
The Mehbooba's stand shows that PDP chief is not in a hurry for government formation and she has put the ball in the court of Centre as well as the erstwhile coalition partner BJP.
Earlier BJP Legislature Party leader Dr Nirmal Singh also called on the PDP president at Guest House there this afternoon and apprised her of BJP's stand on Government formation.
Nirmal Singh had made it clear to the PDP chief that agenda of alliance to which BJP is committed is for six years and the both coalition partners will work to its fulfillment. However sources said that Mehbooba has not shown any inclination in this regard as she wanted a guarantee from Centre and that too from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sources said that Mehbooba besides more package for flood hit people of Valley also wants withdrawal of troops and return of power projects by the Centre to the State which the BJP led Government at Delhi can't afford at all.
For the Union government revocation of AFSPA or withdrawal of troops from the State in view of the increasing Fidayeen attacks and latest in Pathankote Punjab as well as the ISIS game plan to spread terror in India, Modi Government can't afford to take a hasty decision in this regard.
Sources said that BJP will prefer not to rule in J&K instead of withdrawal of AFSPA or giving concessions to separatists or anti nationals. Besides Centre can't give any guarantee on return of power projects to the State also as this will amount to total surrender before PDP which BJP is not ready to do.
Sources said that by demanding more CBMs Mehbooba and her party was trying to blackmail Centre and BJP despite seeking a huge package of Rs 80,000 crore from Centre. On flood package sources said that already insurance companies have paid a huge amount to the affected traders and people who were hit by devastating floods in 2014. Even the Modi Government at Centre went to the extent asking the insurance companies to include the flood clause in the insurance documents of all the affected people who were not inured against the flood clause and the people who had insured themselves with various insurance companies were given benefit of flood clause also and their claims were settled. Meanwhile the BJP team which met Governor under the leadership of Dr Nirmal Singh late in the evening has sought 10 days more time for government formation in the State
