Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 30: Though the state is not having any dearth of police officers, a DIG, who is posted in Kashmir, has been given the charge of two additional posts. This act of the authorities concerned has hit the police functioning. The DIG is holding the charge of two ranges and one separate police wing in Kashmir, according to police sources. Sources said DIG (CKR range) Nitish Kumar, who was scheduled to go abroad on Monday for a special training course, would be returning after 15 days. In his absence, DIG (CKR) Ghulam Hassan Bhat has been asked to look after the affairs of his range. The home department had issued an order in this regard, sources informed. Bhat was already holding the additional charge of DIG traffic police, Kashmir, since October 2015. He was given the additional charge of traffic police after the transfer of Alok Kumar from there and the charge continued to be with him for the past about seven months now, sources said. So, he was now holding the charge of two ranges and the traffic wing. Sources said there was a delay in the posting of DIG traffic, Kashmir, because the coalition partners were yet to arrive at a consensus in this regard. Sources pointed out that in view of durbar move to the valley and a little increase in militant acts in different areas of the summer capital, it would be practically very difficult for Bhat to do justice with all the three different posts he was holding. So, there was an urgent need to relieve him of the additional charges for the smooth functioning of police, sources said.
