Akshay Azad Early Times Report jammu, May 5: A former Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Congress party has allegedly encroached upon seven marlas of prime land belonging to a shopkeeper in Navdar, Paloura but the police have refused to register FIR in the case and unnecessarily sought some court judgment. Jatinder Singh of Navdar locality, who runs a Photostat shop in Paloura informed Early Times that his registered seven marlas of land fall in Khasra number 731, is adjoining to the land of a former Congress member of Legislative Assembly. "I have all the revenue documents and even registry of the land. Earlier the MLA sought to purchase the land but when we refused, he started looking for a chance to get the land encroached", he alleged. He further alleged on Wednesday, when he along with his family had gone to a relative's house. On return to house, we found that the politician has got his land leveling done and even he had also encroach upon my seven marlas of land, he said. The shopkeeper further alleged that when he approached the Janipur police station, they refused to register any FIR and asked to approach court of law. "I showed the SHO, the copy of registration of land (Intqal) but they refused to lodge FIR and sought court orders", he alleged, adding further that police might have been under the pressure of MLA. The Munshi of Janipur Police Station informed that Jatinder Singh had not approached them but might have approached SHO. SHO didn't pick up his phone. When asked the Munshi about the case, he said, "if Jatinder had approached the SHO, they would have asked for a court order as in a Khasra number there is several hundred Kanals of land and only after proper demarcation by Patwari, it could be ascertained, to whom the land belongs", he claimed. On being asked if Jatinder had the registration of land then why FIR was not registered, he said, "Jatinder might have not shown the documents to the Police", he said. The Congress MLA in question claimed that though he had land in the said locality, but he had handed over the same to his brothers. "I am unaware, if someone has done any encroachment there as I was busy in a rally", he said, adding that if there was something wrong done by someone, Jatinder Singh could approach him and he would do needful. |
