20 posts of CEs, SEs in PHE, I&FC, PDD, PDC vacant | Jammu engineers top seniority list; Kashmir-centric politics hampers promotion | | Avinash Azad Early Times Report Jammu, May 11: Notwithstanding BJP's claims to end discrimination with Jammu, 20 posts of Chief Engineers and Superintending Engineers are not being filled, because all engineers at the top of the seniority lists are form Jammu. Paradoxically, both the ministries, PHE, I&FC and PDD are being held by BJP, which claimed to champion Jammu's cause, but the posts are either vacant or being held by junior officers. "The post of Chief Engineer, PHE, Jammu is vacant since retirement of Prem Nath Bhushan, Chief Engineer, CVPPL is vacant after retirement of K K Gupta", sources said, adding that post of Director ERA, equivalent to Chief Engineer, is also vacant, since elevation of Vinod Sharma as CEO ERA. "The post is being held by PN Bali, SE Hydraulic", they added. Sources further said that Chief Engineer, CID Jammu,JKPDC was also vacant for one year. They further said that 16 posts of Superintending Engineers in PHE, I&FC and in other departments are vacant. "Posts of Joint Director Design Inspection Quality Control Kashmir equivalent to (SE), SE Corporate Office, JKPDC are vacant, while post of SE Baglihar JKPDC and Project Manager (Hydraulic) Loan I, Kashmir ERA and Project Manager (Hydraulic) Loan II, Kashmir ERA, Project Manager (Hydraulic) JKUSDIP ERA, Jammu are being held by Executive Engineers", they claimed. "Seven post of SEs in CVPPL, one post of SE, Fisheries, SE Shahpur Kandi Ranjit Sagar Dam and SE IWDP are vacant for years together", they added. Sources said that the engineer's associations has been repeatedly taking up the matter with higher authorities, but all in vain. "We have apprised the Commissioner Secretary PHE, I&FC but he turned down our request", said a deprived engineer whishing not be named. Castigating BJP for backtracking from its words to do justice with Jammu, the engineer said that both departments are being run by BJP Ministers, but unfortunately, during BJP's rule, the Jammuites are facing toughest ever time. |
