| Teacher's transfer policy a flop show | | Officials sit over applications | | Early Times Report
srinagar, May 13: The aggrieved female teachers in Jammu and Kashmir have been crying foul over the much hyped transfer policy, terming it farce and a 'gimmick' by the concernrd minister to 'hoodwink public opinion'.
According to the transfer policy which was introduced by the minister amid much fanfare, the female teachers posted at far off places shall be accorded the postings near to their respective residences so that they could reach to their offices on times. Despite, the policy introduced months ago, there has been no forward movement vis-a-vis providing any relief to the female teachers posted in state's far flung areas.
Terming the policy introduced by the minister as farce and shallow, teachers in unison say their applications have been gathering dust in the department of education since months with no effort being to go through their respective pleas. "The government should not have introduced the transfer policy and if it does, it should have implemented it on ground on merits so that the education system which already is witnessing a lot of chaos could have witnessed the betterment of some sort," Yasmeen Zehra, a female teacher posted in Bandipora and married in Ganderbal district said.
She is not alone in witnessing the turbulent moments while reaching to her place of posting. There are hundreds of female teachers who witness the similar hardships. The teachers have been accusing the minister of turning a blind eye towards their plight, saying there is no system in place that could have ensured a transparent mechanism in the transfer of any teacher. They accuse the department of accommodating the blue eyed and creating confusion over the transfers of the teachers. "On one side its is being expected from us that we deliver and transform the system of education but on the others side, we are being taken for a ride by the government and deliberate dilatory tactics are being adopted in making the new transfer policy a rehabilitation for the affluent while leaving the deserving ones in lurch," teachers said.
Meanwhile, a senior government official told early times that there are applications in thousands received by the department for the transfer as per the new policy but the government is yet to initiate any action over the issue at present. " There has been no decision over how to implement the transfer policy. It has to be done by the nod of the concerned ministry- the nod so far hasn't been given," the official divulged.
Furthermore, the female teachers discharging their duties at the far off areas told Early Times that the education minister has given them false hopes. "We were told to submit our applications along with the relevant documents but so far there has been no decision taken. We want the government to act as per the policy and decide each case on merit but unfortunately, it is not even ready to do so," accused the teachers. |
