Kishtwar, May 14: Two tourists from Switzerland and Slovakia, who landed in this hilly district to explore the possibilities of paragliding and other adventure sports, were allegedly harassed by cops from Padder Police station on the pretext of permission certificate.
As per the details available with "Early Times", the 30 year old Beno Jakub of Slovakia and 35 year Kricha Berlinger of Switzerland arrived at Kishtwar's Gulabgard Padder to explore the vast paragliding and mountaineering potential of Padder heights including Machail, but they were stopped by the cops of Police Station Padder and were asked to produce permission certificate if they want to continue with their paragliding and trekking expedition.
Both Jakub and Berlinger are trained paragliders from International federation of Air Institute (IFAI) and are visiting India from past several years for spending vacations.
While talking to "Early Times" Jacob Beno said that he had arrived in India on 8th of April 2016 while his friend arrived on 12th of April 2016. He added both of them with the help of some known persons from Himachal Pradesh visited many areas of the state and arrived in Kishtwar on Friday 13th of May.
He said when they reached Gulabgard and started their activities the local police stopped them and asked them to produce the permission before carrying out any activity in the area. He said that both of them rushed back to Kishtwar and approach the Kishtwar Police chief (SSP Kishtwar) to seek permission.
They said they were told to approach District Administration Kishtwar for the same. They said they received the No objection Certificate from SSP Kishtwar's office and were guided us to approach office of District administration Kishtwar for issuance of permission certificate.
They said that after waiting for more than four hours, they received the permission certificate from ADC Kishtwar's office. They rued the delay in giving the permission certificate.
"In Himachal Pradesh nobody sought any permission certificate from us-it happened first time to us in Kishtwar. It could have hardly taken an hour for issuance of the same, but we were made to wait for four hours" said Beno Jakub.
Jakub and Berlinger said that Padder is a beautiful place for paragliding and mountaineering and they would continue to enjoy its beautiful and fascinating beauty till the end of this month.
They said that they were surprised the way they were treated and hoped that such things would not happen in future.
Pertinently, Kishtwar was known for various tourism activities including mountaineering and trekking before the onset of militancy in J&K 1990 and many foreign tourists used to visit this hilly district for different activities.
