Jammu, May 14: Over 82 percent aspirants appeared in the JKCET examination conducted by JK Board of Professional Entrance Examination (BOPEE) on Saturday.
According to an official in BOPEE, the total number of aspirants who applied for the examination was 33218 of which around 27496 aspirants appeared in exams while as 5722 were absent."By and large the response of students was same as that of last year,"said Controller BOPEE, Farooq Ahmad Mir.
He said the students haf prepared for the exams and appeared in the exams scheduled on Saturday. "Today we had one meeting for one combined paper of Physics and Chemistry for a duration of two hours in forenoon," he said.
Interestingly this year, JK BOPEE is authorised to conduct the competitive exams in CET for BUMS, BAMS and BPT and BE while as the MBBS and BDS aspirants as per the supreme court directions will have to compete at national level exams in National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by CBSE.
"But students showed a good response for today's CET exam as well," BOPEE controller said.
BOPEE had set up around 34 exam centres in Srinagar for 19585 aspirants of which 16284 appeared in exams. Similarly 20 centres were set up at various places in Jammu division wherein 11212 out of 13623 aspirants made it to exams.
Asked about the claims made by the students that they couldn't download their admit cards on time Mir said, "We have not received any such complaint so far. We allowed students who were without admit cards but had completed their registeration on time."
He said that students who made payment and produced documents on time but couldn't obtain the confirmation page were also allowed to appear in exam. "But students keep on complaining."
