Early Times Report RAMBAN, July 27: After continued rainfall which triggered landslides at various locations on National Highway (NH) due to which the Srinagar-Jammu highway closed for traffic movement across the district Ramban this afternoon. According to Traffic officials the 300-km long Srinagar-Jammu highway owing to landslidestriggered by heavy rains blocked the highway at Gangroo, Panthal, Seri and Karool in the district was closed to normal traffic. "Men and machines have been deployed to clear the highway of blockades and make it trafficable. Besides police personnel were also on work to clear the traffic on road, sources said. "A JCB with its driver,Soran Singh of Punjab working for Gammon India Ltd engaged in the NH44 four laning was trapped under the landslide debris, reports said, adding, "later the injured driver was shifted to District Hospital (DH) Ramban where he was stated to be stable when last reports come in. Hundreds of vehicles stranded on both sides along the National Highway. |
