Early Times Report

Jammu, Oct 11: A meeting of Female Multipurpose Health Workers was held today in the office of Jammu Kashmir Medical Employees Federation under the Charimanship of Sushil Sudan President JKMEF. Vinod Kumar Sharma Secretary General JKMEF and Neelam Kumari General Secretary Jammu Kashmir FMPHW Association were also present.
Leaders of Female Multipurpose workers highlighted their smoldering demands. Previous assurances given by Director Family Welfare and the Secretary Health and Medical Education Department Dr. M.K Bhandari were not fulfilled even after the lapse of 6 months and the deadlined month of September has already passed and even now there is no sign of any fruitful action from the administrative side. It's a pity that for the last 20 years we are struggling for salary which is our right. It is impressed upon the fact that all the Female workers are suffering to their limits. Some of the members of the Association are suffering from life consuming disease but are not in a position to get treatment in lieu of salary from the last 6-7 months. It becomes a mere mockery that on one side our Prime Minister is talking about the welfare of women and giving slogans of "Beti Bachao Beti Padao" . Adding to their miseries the present season is a festive season, almost all the major festivals are at the door step and without salaries how could it be possible to celebrate these festivals like Karvachoath, Diwali, Eid, Gurpurav etc. without a single penny in hand. Even the study of our wards is affected badly. The other major demands are permanent solution of Salary Head 2211 in Health and Family Welfare Department and the release of pending salary for more than four to five months, upgradation for the post of FMPHW on the analogy of Pharmacist, Lab Tech.s, X-Ray Tech., Dental Tech. and Ophthalmic Tech, creation of the post of LHVs in New PHCs, 50% quota to be allotted in favour of trained LHVs at par with MMPHSs promoted as Health Educators, amendment of SRO 20 dated: 20-04-1992 which is pending in the Administrative Department for the last 27 years.
Prominent amongst others who attended and addressed the meeting are Rekha Rani, Mamta Sharma, Kamla Devi, Sarso Devi, Jaswinder Kaur , Kamini Devi, Promila Kumar, Savita Kumar, Satya Devi, Sushma Devi, Vandana Devi, Raj Kumar, Soma Devi, Sharda Kumari, Nancy Bhan, Sheela Devi, Nirmal Kaur, Meena Kumari, Parveen Akhter, Lalita Bhan etc.
