Early Times Report

JAMMU, Oct 14: The decision of the Union Government to start Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Jammu from this academic session has outraged and shocked NC working president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who claims his party represents all the three regions in the state, which is absolutely an overstatement. Omar Abdullah was so shocked that he sent out several tweets on the issue and accused Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of hatching, along with the BJP, a conspiracy against Kashmir.
Omar Abdullah was so biased that he only referred to the IIM and not other details of the decision which the Union Government under the leader ship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi took. The Government of India not only took decision to start to the IIM from this year but also said that National Institute of Technology Srinagar will also get Rs 100 crore for its further modernization and that an out-campus of IIM will also be established. Besides, the decision said that Jammu and Kashmir would also get Rs 50 crore for the purpose of setting up of 7 hostels for girls students, three each in Jammu and Kashmir and one in Leh.
A report in this regard said: "The modernisation of infrastructure in NIT-Srinagar campus will now begin as funding of Rs 100 crore has been approved for the purpose besides a Rs 50-crore project for seven hostels for girl students-three in Jammu region, three in the Valley and one in Leh, HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters here after a Cabinet meeting".
The same report said: "The IIM project will involve a cost of Rs 61.90 crore in temporary campus for the initial four years from 2016 to 2020".
If one reads the complete decision, one would find that Jammu got much less as compared to Kashmir and as for Ladakh, it only got one hostel for girl students.
Omar Abdullah should have felt pleased and thanked the Union Government for the preferential treat Kashmir got from the BJP-led Union Government, but he chose otherwise. He chose one pint and ignored the two others, including the issue of discrimination with Jammu. The manner in which he reacted on Thursday established that he is highly biased against Jammu - biased to the extent that he would charge Mehbooba Mufti and the Narendra Modi Government with perpetrating injustice on Kashmir, notwithstanding the fact that Kashmir got more and Jammu got less.
