Market inspection team lifts sweets samples from Pahalwan Di Hatti, others

Jammu, Oct 14: In order to ensure availability of wholesome sweets and fenniya/katlama on the eve of karbachauth and Deewali to the consumer at large, a team of the Food Safety Officers from Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K, Jammu conducted market inspection at famous brand names of sweet shops including Pahalwan Di Hatti, Pirmitha, Prem Sweet Shop, New Plot and Sain Sweet Shop, Trikuta Nagar besides destroying 2.5 quintals of Petha (a sweet) and 40 kgs of sugar syrup.
According to official spokesperson, the enforcement team comprising Daleep Singh, Jai Inder Singh, Hans Raj and Ajay Khajuria under the supervision of Sanjeev Kumar, Asstt Controller Food ,(MCJ) , Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K, Jammu carried out inspections of various Sweet shops in the area of Janipur, Sarwal, New Plot, Pirmitha , Talab Tillo, Puran Nagar and Trikuta Nagar areas.
"The sleuths lifted samples of sweets from the vendors namely Sethi Sweet Shop, Rehari, Prem Sweet Shop, New Plot, Parkash Di Hatti Janipur, Gokul Sweet Shop, Janipur, Jai Maa Shakti Petha Food Product Puran Nagar, Sain Sweet Shop, Trikuta Nagar, M/S Ravalpindi Sweet Shop, Trikuta Nagar, Bikaner Sweet Shop Talab Tillo, Pahalwan Di Hatti, Pirmitha, Jallaian Di Hatti, jain Bazar etc during inspection," official added. He said that samples were later sent to the Food Laboratory for carry out testing/analysis .
Spokesperson also added that besides sample lifting 2.5 quintal of decomposed Petha and 40 kg Sugar Syrup was destroyed on spot. Meanwhile a challan against Jai Maa Shakti Petha Shop for manufacturing Petha under unhygienic and insanitary condition shall be filed before the competent Authority, he said.
"All the food business operators dealing with sweets have been sensitized to observe/ secure compliance with sanitary and hygienic conditions of their premises as per mandate of the FSS (Licensing & Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations 2011 in letter and spirit, he said and added that this drive will be continue till Deewali festival.
