Jammu, Oct 14: As many as 40 patients have tested positive for Dengue and one for chikungunya in the last two months across Jammu region, an official here today said. "In the last two months, 360 suspected cases of Dengue was reported in Jammu region but out of this figure, only 40 tested positive," Dr Gurjeet Singh, Director Health, Jammu here today said. Dr Singh said only one positive case of chikungunya has been diagnosed so far, adding, "the department is on its toes to fight the epidemic but there is nothing to panic and worry. " Two months ago, when the conditions were humid, suspected cases were reported and to rule out Dengue, tests were conducted but so far only 40 cases have tested positive, he asserted. The Director said that all those tested positive are stable, adding, "we have taken all measures to prevent the virus from spreading and there is nothing to be panic." As the temperature is dipping with the onset of winters, no fresh case of Dengue and Chikungunya are being reported, he asserted. |
