Touts system allegedly prevalent at ARTO’s office

SAMBA, Oct 14: Believe it or not, the request of 'driving license' renewal or fresh or other documentations being issued by Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Samba has become haven for touts/agents who allegedly are hand in glove with some tainted officials at the concerned office and are things managed out of the way.
People of Samba and adjoining areas come in ARTO office Samba alleged that if one denies the touts, the said person has to stand in line wait for hours together while agents get everything done out of the way openly.
Local alleged that one can't rule out that some employees of the said department are having hands in gloves with touts who openly by pass rules.
Sources alleged that agents collect 3000 to the peoples and give a LMV license for without trial. "These agents demand Rs 1000 (rupees one thousand) for a work that would hardly cost Rs 100/-," sources said, adding, "This looting has been going on since time for established the ARTO office in district Samba."
The tout's culture is mushrooming in the ARTO Samba and genuine visitors are facing the burnt due to the touts whom the concerned officials give priority against routine visitors.
Gambir Singh State Secretary Congress Labour Cell Samba alleged that the agents are openly looting the Peoples and employees of this department to support the agents. He demanded to the transport commissioner to pay surprise visit to ARTO Samba to take stock of the situation.
When contacted ARTO Samba Kuldeep Singh rejected the claims of touts culture and categorically said that there is no agent system in his office.
