Early Times Report
Vijaypur, Oct 27: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary Manjit Singh paid rich tributes to Brig Rajinder Singh at his native village in Beguna in Vijaypur, while recalling his supreme sacrifice of the savior of J&K from Pakistan.
Former Minister led people today organised a function at Beguna where they garlanded the photo of the Brig Rajinder Singh, who fight Pakistani forces and saved Jammu and Kashmir from them.
"It was because of Brig Rajinder Singh that J&K is with India for which the top ranking military officer laid down his life while fighting the enemy in the battle ground," Manjit Singh said, while speaking on the occasion.
Singh said that the people should follow the foot step of the great Brigadier and learn from his valor. "We should not forget his sacrifice for the nation," he added.
Criticizing Pakistan, former Minister said that Pakistan has not learnt lesson from Indian Army which it was taught time-to-time for its aggressive postures and unprovoked firing across the borders with India.
He said that they were defeated in all four wars with India. "They should focus on their internal issues instead of creating more trouble for themselves. India is a vast nation and developing too. India's economy is among the strong nations. Pakistan should not take India's silence for granted. Our forces are strong enough to teach them once again a strong lesson it does not stop unprovoked firing across the International Border and Line of Control," he added.
Expressing concern over the plight of border residents, Manjit Singh said the government should form a policy and immediately provide relief and compensation to all those border people who have suffered damage in their houses and cattles.
"There is a dire need to give them land as well as constructed houses for the safety of the border residents. They put their lives in risk while living amid cross border firing in their respective houses in the absence of any alternatives," he said.
He said that "Government should give them constructed houses in safer places so that in times of hostility on border, they can abandon their houses and shift with families to safer places."
Till date, he said, the trend has not change. "Whenever firing occurs in last seven decades on border, the residents are uprooted and given temporary shelters in Government buildings like panchayat ghars and educational institutions," said Manjit Singh, JKPCC general secretary.
Those who were present on the function Sarpanch Rajinder Singh Pura Brij Pal Singh , BabbalGupta, Surinder Sharma, Brij Mohan Dutta, Bharat Bushan, Trith Bhagat, Capt. Joginder Lal, Sarpanch Sham Lal Bhagat, Youth Congress Leader Chander Sheakhar Sharma, Bachan Choudhary.
