Jammu, Oct 27: Appreciating the people celebrating the Accession Day in a befitting way by holding functions for complete three days Panun Kashmir today observed "Accession Day" as a "Solidarity Day". In a meeting held in Jammu the party President Vijay Bhat said that it was on 26th October 1947 when Maharaja Shri Hari Singh, the then Ruler of Jammu & Kashmir State, in the exercise of his Sovereignty in and over the said State executed the Instrument of Accession and the same was accepted by Governor General of India Mountbatten on 27th Oct. 1947."
During the occasion, speakers was emphasised that the Accession of J&K with the domain of India is final and irrevocable and those who raise or question the accession of J&K with India are the enemies of the nation and does not believe in the pluralist , secular and democratic set up of India.
"As the Maharaja requested the Government of India to accept accession which has been accepted and thus legality of the document was that once the king, the ruler decides the accession it is final and irrevocable, they said.
Speaker also added that only unfinished agenda is to retrieve the portion of J&K which has been held illegally by Pakistan comprising of Gilgit, Baltistan, Skardu, POK and Aksai Chin as resolved unanimously on February 22, 1994 by both the houses of Parliament
Convener PK Ravinder Jalali also criticized statement of former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at New York University Seminar terming the Kashmir Unrest as political described it as unfortunate. "Kashmir unrest has nothing political in nature and is purely a communal problem based on the two nation theory which resulted in the creation of Pakistan in 1947 based on religion, Mr Jalali said. Jalali and others speakers expressed dismay over the remarks of former chief minister Omar Abdullah and said Omar Abdullah should avoid giving such statements that have a tendency to give fillip to the fissiparous tendencies in the State.
