Congress resorts to kite flying to keep flock together
7/3/2018 10:58:21 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, July 3: To keep the flock together, Congress has now resorted to kite flying on Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir, which was brought under the Governor's rule last month following BJP pullout from the PDP-led Coalition regime.
Despite opposition within the party, sources said the Congress is creating an impression that it was not averse to the Government formation and return to power in alliance with other than BJP. This is being done to keep the party relevant in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir, where several Congress law makers are purportedly mulling to shift loyalties, sources added.
While elaborating, sources said that a number of Congress leaders have kept the options open for their further political career in J&K because of traditional Kashmir centric approach of the high command towards the present time challenges. Even as the party leaders were little hopeful of revival of Congress in J&K owing to the blunders being committed by then BJP leaders, the imposition of Governor's rule has changed the scenario while on the other hand, resignation of Sham Lal Sharma had already made it clear that all was not well in the Congress party, sources explained.
"A party which has failed to make appointment of new District president for the last ten years and re-structure the organization for the last more than a year, cannot take on the BJP of Modi and Amit Shah," opined a disappointed Congress leader. On the other hand, sources said that BJP is eying on the section of disappointed Congressmen who may quit the party before 2019 Lok Sabha polls thus giving an impression that leadership of Rahul Gandhi was not competent to take on Modi, which would ultimately benefit saffron party. Sources said that such apprehension has forced the Congress high command to resort to kite flying and giving an impression that the party was not averse to formation of a coalition Government with PDP in J&K so that those mulling to quit the party may rethink on their planning.
