In a bid to stay relevant, Kashmir's political parties make admin a punching bag
Bizarre statements, uncalled for jibes becomes new norm

Early Times Report

Jammu, Dec 22: In a bid to stay relevant and hoodwink people, Kashmir's mainstream political parties have been making the Governor's administration a punching back by leveling baseless allegations.
This is perhaps for the first time in state's recent history that such bizarre statements are publicly being issued against the state governor that too without any remorse and regret.
Recently, the PDP stated that the Governor's administration is creating problems even in those areas of the state where there are none.
It even accused of functioning without taking public sentiment into consideration or assessment of requirements is causing tensions and sowing seeds of discord for future in the state. Such a statement was issued even when a landmark decision of creating a first ever university at Leh was taken by the Governor administration. The PDP in a same statement said,"It is unfortunate that the Governor administration seems to be believing in its small bureaucratic schemes of burying the main political issues facing the state with these measures. Such measures are ultimately creating a wedge between different regions and different districts of the state."
On the other hand, National Conference too is joining the chorus and leaving no stone unturned to protest against the Governor's administration even on the issues that are too unimportant even for anyone to consider. "This is for the first time that the political parties in the state have begun to target the Governor's administration so sardonically. This is being done by the political groups to stay relevant and hoodwink people. In actual, it is the misinformation campaign being launched by the political parties like NC and the PDP which is totally uncalled for," said a senior official.
It is pertinent to mention that since the imposition of the Governor's Rule in the state on June 20, the grievance cell has received 38,282 complaints, of which 37,040 have been dealt with and forwarded to the quarters concerned for timely redressal. According to the reports, 826 complaints are under process.
Meanwhile, there is a wide scale disgruntlement over the spree of accusations being launched by the PDP against the Governor's office with party sometimes getting involved in name calling and sometimes levelling baseless accusations.
"It is ironic that what doesn't go well within the PDP is against the interests of the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The fact is that the party is transgressing all limits of decency by levelling baseless charges against governor and accusing him of taking decisions without considering the ground situation," says a senior official in the Governor administration.
Prior to this, the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti in open questioned the Governor administration's style of working.
"It is not for a set of bureaucrats and civil servants to take decisions of far reaching consequences in the state. These things have to be left to democratically elected government in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Governor is not mandated by the people of the state to take such decisions," Mehbooba was quoted by the reports as having said in a statement on November 24, this year.
