BJP's objections valid, but it itself trifurcated Jammu on March 1, 2015
Artificial Chenab Valley
12/22/2018 11:18:50 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: J&K BJP Friday raised very valid objections against the National Conference's sinister move to present Jammu province in a manner that creates an impression that it consists of three distinct regions - plains of Jammu or Kathua, Samba, Jammu and parts of Udhampur and Reasi districts; Chenab Valley consisting of Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts; and Pir Panchal region comprising Poonch and Rajouri districts.
"By giving artificial names like the Chenab Valley or Pir Panchal region, the Kashmir-based political groups intend to divide Jammu with their sinister communal plan. Time and again such demands are raised either by these leaders r their stooges working in Jammu," said the BJP in a written statement.
It's obvious that the present day local BJP leaders are not aware of what BJP national general secretary and in-charge J&K Ram Madhav and the then J&K BJP chief Jugal Kishore Sharma and his other colleagues did in 2015 while stitching an alliance with the Kashmir-based, pro-self-rule, anti-Jammu, anti-Ladakh and divisive PDP of the Muftis in 2015 or they are seeking to mislead the people of Jammu province by believing that they do not know anything about what the BJP did that year for the sake of power and pelf at the cost of the nation and its own constituencies in Jammu and Ladakh.
The local BJP leaders need to admit that the party leadership in 2015 did hurt Jammu by accepting the erstwhile Doda district, which was once part of Udhampur and was created in 1948 by Sheikh Abdullah, as "Chenab Valley" and Poonch-Rajouri districts as "Pir Panchal region" (of which Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts are parts).
What did the March 1, 2015 PDP-BJP Agenda of Alliance, which was released by late Mufti Sayeed in the presence of the then Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh in Jammu after the oath-taking ceremony was over, in this regard reads:
It reads: "Allot a dedicated coal mine in Madhya Pradesh to J&K with coal reserves of not less than 150 MMT for setting up a pit head thermal plant with equity support from Government of India Restructure and strengthen the Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited as a holding company for all hydro power projects in the state. Earmarking 2 per cent of revenues from hydro power for the development of the Chenab region. Setting up of a new specialized high tech IT park and Bio tech parks in Jammu, and Pir Panchal".
The BJP needs to admit its mistake before attacking Kashmir-based political groups and their touts working in Jammu. At the same time, the BJP needs to clear its stand on the NC's demand seeking autonomy from India, the PDP's demanding seeking self-rule for the state, Article 370, Article 35A, Ladakhi Buddhists' demand seeking UT for the region, demand in Jammu for the state's reorganization, refugees from West Pakistan and internally-displaced Kashmiri Hindus' demand seeking separate homeland in Kashmir.
