SRINAGAR, Dec 22: In a major offensive against the militants and militancy in Kashmir police and security forces killed six militants at Arampora in Tral area in South Kashmir's Pulwama district. The slain militants owed allegiance to Ansar Gazwat-ul-Hind led by Zakir Musa.
Reports reaching here said that militants were killed when a joint party of police and security forces fired towards a militant hideout located in an orchard at Arampora in the Tral area. The forces carried out the operation after receiving inputs about the presence of militants in the Arampora area.
Reports said the gunfight broke out after a joint team of 42 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), Special Operations Group (SOG) of Jammu & Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) fired some warning shots towards the militant hideout situated in an orchard along the Tral-Awantipora road during a cordon-and-search operation.
