WAJD, a Sufi magazine launched | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 31: Jammu Civil Society for Art and Literature, in collaboration with Nami Dogri Sanstha, launched Wajd, a Sufi magazine which is the first of its kind in Asia at Abhinav Theatre today. Affan Yesvi is the, Editor in Chief and Publisher of Wajd. Advisor to Governor, Khurshid Ahmad Ganai was the chief guest of occasion, while as Vijaya Bakaya was the guest of honour. Former Deputy Chief Minister, J&K State presided over the function. The magazine will be published from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, twice a year. Wajd, a bi-annual magazine on Sufism, aims to bridge the gap between academic and mainstream writing on Tasawwuf, to archive the modern, cosmopolitan and global citizen's experience of Sufism. Affan A Yesvi, Editor in Chief, Wajd said , "The magazine aims to build an evolving archive on divinity studies, bringing together quality and contemporary scholarship on Islamic spiritual and mystical studies, focusing on the Sufi traditions of South Asia, Central Asia and Middle East". He added that the magazine, an inclusive effort, also features contemporary scholarship on the spiritual and mystical studies in other faiths. The magazine in its publication and composition aims to engage and involve well known and emerging scholars, academics, researchers, Sufi practitioners, artistes, teachers, students, creative practitioners and whosoever intends to get immersed in the quest for higher meaning. He added that the theme of the first issue of Wajd was 'Divine Love'. In consonance with the essence of the magazine, the theme of the second issue is 'The Way of the Sufi'. In each edition, Wajd will seek to replicate and perpetuate the ceaseless search for higher meaning and higher beloved. |
