| YV Sharma terms interim budget as bundle of illusionary promises | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 1:Giving his immediate observation on the interim budget, the former President CCI, Jammu and President All India Professionals' Congress, J&K state termed it as yet another bundle of illusionary promises.
Welcoming the tax exemption limit of 5 lakhs, Sharma regarded this budget as very depressing for the farmers, unemployed youth and other marginalized sections of society. Giving benefit of Rs 500 per month to the farmers having less than 2 hectares of land is a humiliating joke. Adding to their hardships by increasing the rates of diesel, petrol, electricity and other infrastructure and giving them a benefit of Rs 500 per month speaks of the non-seriousness of the government towards the fate of the farmers. Sharma asserted that the miserable plight of the farmers deserve a well thought out plan for ameliorating their lot.
No cosmetic 'jumla' will suffice for the betterment of this section. An all inclusive policy for establishing the agricultural sector as a profitable industry was expected from the government at the fag end of their tenure but unfortunately no such wish or direction is visible in the present budget, said Sharma. He was of the opinion that fringe benefits announced for the sector will not bring any significant change in their condition Sharma opined that it is difficult to comment on the budget in the absence of various details and clarification. Sharma, however, doubted the implementation of various schemes and on the face of it, the budget just appears as an election budget without any roadmap for its implementation like the promises before the 2014 elections which were never fulfilled during this government's tenure. |
