SRINAGAR, Aug 4: Amid chaos and tension in the Kashmir valley, an all-party meeting was called by the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti. The meeting was held at the residence of National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah.
The meeting comes amid rising tension following the build-up of 35,000 troops in the valley from last many days. The call also comes amid concerns about the state's special status. Mehbooba claimed police did not allow a meeting to be held at a local hotel.
"The political parties here had decided to hold a meeting, at a hotel today. But the police has issued an advisory to all hotels not to let political parties hold any meeting in hotels. So we're holding a meeting at 6 pm today," she said.
"Evacuate yatris, tourists, labourers, students & cricketers. Willingly create a sense of panic & distress but don't bother giving Kashmiris a sense of relief or security. Kahan gayi insaniyat, kashmiriyat aur jamhooriyat?" she wrote on her twitter handle earlier.
