9/8/2019 11:25:12 PM
Early Times Report

JAMMU, Sept 8: A meeting of House Committee was held under the chairmanship of Rajinder Sharma, Councilor, at conference hall of Jammu Municipal Corporation, Town Hall, Jammu along with committee members, councilors Parmod Kapai, Pawan Singh and Gourav Chopra.
A detailed discussion was held for construction and layout plans for built up, non-built up and commercial areas.
It was decided that expert advises will be elicited from the town planners, retired and serving Government officers and public for drafting of building plans/schemes for Jammu city.
Building plans/schemes of other cities like Mumbai, Surat and Gujarat will also be studied.
Administrative procedures will be made simple for better compliance by the public. Some of the formalities will be put under Public Services Guarantee Act so that whole process is completed in the shortest possible time. It was discussed that poor people having land less than 2.5 marlas who want to construct single room and a bath room should not be put to cumbersome procedures. An officer of the rank of Joint Commissioner should provide them approval for construction. Other issues discussed were simplification of procedures for new included areas in the Jammu Municipal corporation where building approval were granted by Block Development Officer, Proving building permission to more than one applicants of the same family in Sainik Colonies, Cooperative Housing Societies, Housing Board colonies etc keeping in view that it does not alter the planned outlook of the society.
It was appealed that public is requested to give their valuable suggestions regarding formulation of building schemes /plans for Jammu city under Section 260 of Jammu Municipal Act, 2000 to the committee every Sunday from 11 am to 2 pm at Conference Hall, Jammu Municipal Corporation.
