JKSAC urges LG to visit inhabitations of DPs of 1947 | | | Early times Report
Jammu, Sept 8: While welcoming and appreciating the assertion made by Lt. Governor, Manoj K. Sinha during his visit to Jagti Township Nagrota yesterday, reiterating the UT govt. commitment to carry forward the welfare and equitable holistic development of all the section of society, Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) urged upon Lt. Governor to also visit 46 identified/recognized colonies inhabitated by DPs of 1947 from POK awaiting development and redressal of their legitimate basic issues concerning their settlement for the last more than 7 decades. Sharing his views with participants in the meeting held at Lower Gadi Garh Jammu, Gurdev Singh President (JKSAC) said that 46 colonies were established by DPs with their own efforts besides other small establishment and after a lot of struggle done by JKSAC these colonies were recognized under slum improvement schemes launched by the then state as per the advisory of Central Govt. However, after a lot of persuasion and amount of Rs 25 lacs was sanctioned by GOI in the year of 2000 under the rehabilitation package provided to DPs having deficiency in land allotment. He said that it was a cruel joke with the DPs to provide such a petty amount for development if it is divided among 46 colonies for their development, each colonies would get approx. 55,000 and one can easily imagine that what kind of civic facilities could be provided with this negligible tiny amount even in the year of 2000. |
