SRINAGAR, Sept 12: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported record 1,698 fresh cases of Corona Virus following which the number of positive cases reached 52,410. The death toll reached 864 as 10 more people died in past 24 hours. Srinagar reported 255 fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Jammu district 250 cases, Budgam district 123 cases, Kupwara district 108 cases, Udhampur district 103 cases, Poonch district 93 cases, Rajouri district 83 cases, Baramulla and Bandipora districts 82 cases each, Kishtwar district 78 cases, Doda district 67 cases, Shopian district 60 cases, Samba district 58 cases, Pulwama district 50 cases, Anantnag and Ganderbal districts 45 cases each, Kathua district 42 cases, Reasi district 33 cases, Ramban district 31 cases and Kulgam district 10 cases. Jammu district reported four fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by a death each in Srinagar, Baramulla, Bandipora, Budgam, Rajouri and Samba districts. So far 721 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir with the number of deaths in Jammu division being 143. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with 248 deaths. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,698 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 838 from Jammu division and 860 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 52,410. Also 10 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; six from Jammu division and four from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 596 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 219 from Jammu Division and 377 from Kashmir Division. Out of 52,410 positive cases, 16,261 are active positive, 35,285 have recovered and 864 have died; 143 in Jammu division and 721 in Kashmir division. Out of 12, 03,799 test results available, 11, 51,389 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 5, 15,897 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 42,414 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 16,261 in isolation and 53,090 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 03,268 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 11,498 positive cases, 1,921 active positive, 9,329 recovered, 248 deaths; Budgam has 3,580 positive cases, 1,226 active positive, 2,284 recovered, 70 deaths; Baramulla has 3,399 positive cases, 873 active positive, 2,414 recovered, 112 deaths; Pulwama has 3,119 positive cases, 439 active positive, 2,620 recovered, 60 deaths; Anantnag has 2,848 positive cases, 676 active positive, 2,119 recovered, 53 deaths. “Kupwara has 2,784 positive cases, 940 active positive, 1,788 recovered, 56 deaths; Bandipora has 2,710 positive cases, 796 active positive, 1,886 recovered, 28 deaths; Kulgam has 2,069 positive cases, 126 active positive, 1,903 recovered, 40 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,025 positive cases, 539 active positive, 1,461 recovered, 25 deaths and Shopian has 1,865 positive cases, 148 active positive, 1,688 recovered, 29 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 7,947 positive cases, 5,258 active positive, 2,604 recovered, 85 deaths; Udhampur has 1,398 positive cases, 579 active positive, 815 recovered, four deaths; Rajouri has 1,364 positive cases, 521 active positive, 828 recovered, 15 deaths; Kathua has 1,285 positive cases, 404 active positive, 870 recovered, 11 deaths; Samba has 1,037 positive cases, 409 active positive, 620 recovered, eight deaths. “Poonch has 821 positive cases, 415 active positive, 400 recovered, six deaths; Ramban has 794 positive cases, 140 active positive, 653 recovered, one death; Doda has 732 positive cases, 329 active positive, 394 recovered, nine deaths; Reasi has 570 positive cases, 212 active positive, 355 recovered, three deaths and Kishtwar has 565 positive cases, 310 active positive, 254 recovered, one death,” reads the bulletin. Out of 52,410 positive cases in J&K, 7,591 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
