Intelligentsia must come forward to save Jammu: Harsh
9/18/2020 9:57:28 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Sept 18: “With Jammu reeling under acute stress in view of its continued neglect and deprivation even after J&K’s reorganization and abrogation of Article 370, the saner elements of the region need to come forward to support and strengthen those who were fighting for justice to this incarcerated and marginalized Dogra land,” said Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman JKNPP and former Minister.
This was stated by Harsh Dev Singh, Chairman-JKNPP & former Minister who was addressing a press conference along with Prof Jai Kumar Sharma, a renowned educationist/economist who joined NPP along with several other Rtd. bureaucrats and intellectuals. Pertinent to mention that Jai Kumar Sharma had served as Director Colleges, Additional Controller of Examinations and Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor JU before his retirement. Others who joined NPP today included Kulbhushan Singh Sambyal Retd Joint Director Agriculture, Prof GP Singh specialist in Hospitality& Tourism and Choudhary Gurdeep Singh, a prominent businessman of Jammu.
Appealing the intelligentsia and saner elements in the society to come forward to save Jammu, Singh said that politics of opportunism and deception practiced by the present leaders could do unimaginable harm to Jammu. How could people accept those opportunists as leaders who sacrificed the very dignity and honour of Dogras for power, who bartered away the aspirations of the people of Jammu for crumbs of power, who abandoned their age old slogans of justice and equality for Jammu and caused the severest disappointment to educated Jammu youth by surrendering even their negligible share in services for crumbs of power.
He appealed to academicians, rtd officers, employees, students, traders and youth of Jammu to join hands to get rid of the politics of treachery and subterfuge being practiced by the BJP leadership for its narrow parochial ends at the cost of interests of people of Jammu, lets grab the opportunity and unite before the time runs out, said Singh.
Prof Jai Kumar Sharma expressed his concern over the sagging economy, rising prices of essentials, growing unemployment and all pervasive corruption which had shaken the faith of the people in the present dispensation. He said that the government had failed to bring about any visible change in the socio-economic life of the people of Jammu region even after State’s Reorganization with the ongoing Corona pandemic having added to the woes of common man. He said that he had minutely observed the working of Panthers Party and was of the firm belief that it alone could navigate the marginalized Dogra land and ensure justice to the region.
