SRINAGAR, Sept 18: The COVID-19 death toll in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 966 as 15 more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. The number of positive cases is 61,041 with 1330 fresh cases being reported today. Jammu district reported three fresh Corona Virus deaths followed by two deaths in Doda district and a death each in Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, Bandipora, Kulgam, Rajouri, Kathua, Samba, Poonch & Ramban districts. So far 757 COVID-19 patients have died in Kashmir valley while as the number of such deaths in Jammu division is 209. Srinagar district reported 237 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district 221 cases, Doda district 86 cases, Poonch district 77 cases, Bandipora district 65 cases, Baramulla district 64 cases, Budgam and Rajouri districts 62 cases each, Anantnag district 60 cases, Samba district 53 cases, Kupwara district 52 cases, Ramban district 47 cases, Ganderbal district 44 cases, Kathua district 42 cases, Pulwama district 41 cases, Kishtwar district 35 cases, Udhampur district 31 cases, Kulgam district 19 cases, Reasi district 18 cases and Shopian district 14 cases. The Jammu & Kashmir through the media bulletin informed that 1,330 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 672 from Jammu division and 658 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 61,041. Also 15 COVID-19 deaths have been reported; 10 from Jammu division and five from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 784 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 294 from Jammu Division and 490 from Kashmir Division. Out of 61,041 positive cases, 20,770 are active positive, 39,305 have recovered and 966 have died; 209 in Jammu division and 757 in Kashmir division. Out of 13, 45,750 test results available, 12, 84,709 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 5, 38,621 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for observation which included 28,841 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 20,770 in isolation and 65,546 under home surveillance. Besides, 4, 22,498 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 12,637 positive cases, 2,091 active positive, 10,285 recovered, 261 deaths; Budgam has 4,217 positive cases, 1,634 active positive, 2,508 recovered, 75 deaths; Baramulla has 3,726 positive cases, 1,070 active positive, 2,542 recovered, 114 deaths; Pulwama has 3,413 positive cases, 486 active positive, 2,864 recovered, 63 deaths; Anantnag district has 3,151 positive cases, 802 active positive, 2,295 recovered, 54 deaths. “Bandipora has 3,083 positive cases, 1,018 active positive, 2,034 recovered, 31 deaths; Kupwara has 3,079 positive cases, 926 active positive, 2,093 recovered, 60 deaths; Ganderbal has 2,410 positive cases, 592 active positive, 1,792 recovered, 26 deaths; Kulgam has 2,154 positive cases, 145 active positive, 1,966 recovered, 43 deaths and Shopian has 1,916 positive cases, 183 active positive, 1,703 recovered, 30 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 9,650 positive cases, 6,187 active positive, 3,343 recovered, 120 deaths; Rajouri has 1,923 positive cases, 1,025 active positive, 878 recovered, 20 deaths; Udhampur has 1,716 positive cases, 748 active positive, 959 recovered, nine deaths; Kathua has 1,619 positive cases, 616 active positive, 989 recovered, 14 deaths; Doda has 1,350 positive cases, 826 active positive, 507 recovered, 17 deaths. “Samba has 1,296 positive cases, 635 active positive, 651 recovered, 10 deaths; Poonch has 1,239 positive cases, 795 active positive, 437 recovered, seven deaths; Ramban has 969 positive cases, 279 active positive, 685 recovered, five deaths; Kishtwar has 792 positive cases, 400 active positive, 389 recovered, three deaths and Reasi has 701 positive cases, 312 active positive, 385 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 61,041 positive cases in J&K, 8,083 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
