Indian army gives befitting reply to aggression | Pak violates CF along LoC in Gurez sector | | Mohammad Sarfaraz Early Times Report
BANDIPORA, Sept 18: Panic gripped villagers along the Line of Control (LoC) after Pakistan army violated the ceasefire on Friday along the Line of Control (LoC) in Gurez sector of this north Kashmir district. A top army official said that, “the Pakistan army initiated an unprovoked Ceasefire Violation (CFV) along the Line of control in Bagtore sector by resorting to unprovoked firing with Mortars and other weapons, targeting forward defence locations. It is learnt that the exchange of fire triggered panic near villages along the LoC and some residents from the area were shifted to safer places by the security forces on Friday afternoon. The cross border shelling took place at around 11 am onwards today, after which locals moved to secure themselves towards safer places, said sources. However there was no immediate report of any loss of life or other livelihoods, the Indian Army had given them a befitting reply. Srinagar based defence spokesperson; Col Rajesh Kalia told ET that, Pakistan initiated an unprovoked Ceasefire Violation along LoC in Kanzalwan, Gurez Sector, Bandipora today morning by firing Mortars & other weapons, adding befitting response is being given to them. Meanwhile, a cordon and search operation (CASO) was launched on Thursday midnight in Guiwe area of Pattan town of Baramulla district, after there were inputs about the presence of militants. Sources said that a joint team of forces including 29 RR, SOG Pattan have launched searches after receiving inputs about presence of militants at Guiwa area of North Kashmir’s Pattan. Door to door searches were carried out, while all the entry and exit points of the village were sealed so that no suspects can escape from the area, sources informed adding later on no contact with militants was established till the last reports came in.
