Transporters charging exorbitant fare in Poonch, alleges JKIM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, Sept 18: Alleging exorbitant fare being charged from the passengers in Poonch, the Jammu and Kashmir Insaaf Movement (JKIM) said that the transporters across Poonch have indulged in open loot by raising fares indiscriminately after COVID-19 pandemic. Chairman JKIM, Javid Iqbal Reshi said that all buses, mini buses and other modes of public transport have increased the fare rate up to 100% to 150% by their own choice and are carrying over load up to 50% whereas authorities have directed them to maintain social distance during COVID-19. JKIM after receiving numerous complaints in this regard has submitted a representation to Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Poonch indicating some routes where transporters are taking extra fare from passengers. In the memorandum, Chairman Reshi highlighted some routes where the drivers are throwing the norms to wind and are looting passengers. Reshi urged concerned authorities to issue fare price list and install it in all passenger vehicles at the earliest. Meanwhile, ARTO Poonch Jugal Kishore assured to investigate the matter and take strict action against law violators.
