JAMMU, Oct 15: Infrastructure and human resource in hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir is inadequate and unable to cater to the increasing rush of patients.
Owing to this, Operation theaters are underutilized in District Hospitals, Sub-District Hospitals (SDHs) and Community Health Centers (CHCs). Preference to private practice being given by doctors and even Para-medical staff has resulted in patients from rich class to poor being forced to approach private health care centers. These centers are run essentially by affluent surgeons and gynecologists.

JAMMU, Oct 15: The Chief Minister, it seems, ceases to have control over the General Administration Department (GAD). In response to a complaint of a RTI activists, the Chief Minister had issued a direction urging all Ministers to refrain from using the word `Darbaar' for their public meetings.
The CM, it has been reliably learnt has issued as many as 13 reminders to ensure discontinuation of the use of word `darbaar'. However, things have not changed. The GAD has not taken a final decision on `darbaar' till date.

JAMMU, Oct 15: Central Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has ruled out any immediate revocation of AFSPA after completing his three day visit to the State. The stand taken by Shinde is in line with that taken earlier by his predecessor P. Chidambaram.
The Union Home Minister made it clear that despite the fact that peace was gradually returning to the State any hasty revocation of AFSPA would prove counter productive. The State Government has been strongly advocating the revocation of the Act that gives special powers to the armed forces to operate against the militants.
