| Revenue Minister intervenes, ACR, Tehsildhar to visit spot today | | Row over land encroachment by DySP | | Sumit Sharma JAMMU, Oct 15: Following reports about alleged 'land encroachment' by high profile Dy SP in Sainik Colony Sector C, Chouadhi appeared in some section of print media, sources in Revenue Department said that concerned Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla has intervened into the matter. Sources said that Minister concerned has also directed DC Jammu Sanjeev Verma to examine the case and take immediate preventive step to check encroachment through an on spot assessment. Sources further said that as directed by the senior authorities, a Revenue Department team comprising Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) and Tehsildar Settlement (Jammu) is expected to visit spot for on spot assessment of encroached land in question. Meanwhile some locals reacting to news item published in this paper under heading 'DySP booked for land encroachment', handed over some documents claiming that DySP Shashi Thakur has not encroached upon the land. Pertinently, the encroachment issue took media hype after a Deputy Superintendent of Police presently posted in Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 4th battalion booked by Channi Himmat Police Station on the directions of court. A case under Section 154 (3) CrPC, 447,427, 323,506 RPC was registered against the lady cop. Here it needs merits to mention that case was registered following complaint by one Ashiq Hussain son of Qasim Din Choudhary of the Chouadhi who in his complaint alleged that DySP using the influence is making a bid to grab a land spread situated in Sector C, Sainik Colony. "The DySP is making conspiracy to encroach his land, the complaint has alleged. Acting on his complaint, court ordered registration of case against the cop. Meanwhile locals representing the Shivalik Colony Welfare Association have countered the alleged allegations of land encroachment and said that instead the DySP has raised issue of encroachment of a khud (waste land) situated in close vicinity of their locality. They also represented the issue to the Revenue Minister Raman Bhalla in which they alleged that though, DC Jammu vide order issued under NO DCJ/S.Q/2010-11/1505-39 DATED 11/8/2010 has imposed ban on the encroachment of water bodies like Khuds, Nullah, Ponds within the Municipal limit of Jammu and the some people were trying to violate the said norms in the above mentioned colony. |
