Facebook blasphemy hits Kishtwar

Asif Iqbal Naik Kishtwar October 29:- Situation continues to be tense in Kishtwar District after three youths from Passarkot of Chatroo Tehsil of Kishtwar District allegedly created a blasphemous page (http://www.facebook.com/bcpakistan (now blocked) on social networking site triggering strong protests across the region. The protests broke out in Chatroo and later spread to other parts of Kishtwar as unruly mob attacked police station Chatroo and vandalized few vehicles and accused police of being soft over the issue. As soon as the blasphemous page showing morphed pictures of Islam and Quran appeared on the facebook, it spread like a wild fire and created chaos and anger among the Muslim community. Though the police and administration sprung into action and arrested all the three accused, beside blocking the blasphemous page with the help of IB, by that time thousands of people were already on road and blocked main road outside Deputy Commissioner Office Kishtwar, raising Pro Azadi/Pro Pakistan slogans. Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 29: The State government’s proposed move to ban private practice of doctors, is fraught with serious health consequences. The move had not only failed in the past but it had only added to the woes of the patients. There is 55 percent shortage of doctors in the State. In Uttranachal and Himachal Pradesh, which are also hilly states, the shortage is much lower and the health services are much improved. The state government had failed to fill in the vacancies despite it being a open fact that there is shortage of doctors.
