DGP orders secret inquiry to unravel the truth

ET Exclusive Jammu | Oct 4 Following a complaint that a senior police officer received lakhs of rupees for transfer of some police officers, the Director General of Police ordered conduct of a secret enquiry to ascertain the veracity of the complaint. According to some reliable sources the DGP office received a complaint through fax and also through courier leveling serious charges of corruption against one of the police officer who has been instrumental in prize postings of some of the police officers including DSPs, inspectors and SIs after getting hefty amount. The sources further said that the complainant has also mentioned names of some of the police officers who managed prize postings on money consideration. The letter also mentioned that the said police officer arranged prize postings of some of the police officers to which they were not neither eligible nor fit. The complainant in his letter maintained that this was not first case of its kind but was going on for last few years. Stating this, Jammu and Kashmir head of the ISWA, Shiv Kumar Sharma said the association today reviewed the arrangements for the event which is scheduled at the Vivekanand Sports Stadium, Katra on October 14. New Delhi | Oct 4 Terming the fierce gunbattle near the tourist resort of Gulmarg on Wednesday in which nine terrorists were killed as an" isolated incident", Defence Minister A K Antony today said there was no setback to the process of return of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.
