11/9/2012 11:20:51 PM
Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: In what could be described as virtual failure of Forest department in checking a menace prevailing under its purview, miscreants are "openly" using forest areas as dumping grounds for disposing waste building materials collected from the municipal limits. The sensitive issue has further brought severe criticism against the officials of Forest department on helm of affairs, from the city residents especially the morning walkers as they question why the menace is not being dealt with iron hands. "The forest areas around the city outskirts here have become dumping grounds for disposing solid waste (Malba) following a ban by Irrigation and Flood Control department for dumping the same into River Ravi," revealed sources adding further that "in the absence of any kind of check, the owners of private Tractor Trolleys and Tipper Trucks seems to have identified forest areas as "safe places" for dumping the waste building materials." While none of the officials of Forest Department were available for comment, the Tractor Trolleys and Tipper Trucks loa...
