Omar falters on another assurance
A month after LC elections, Cabinet reshuffle still elusive
12/31/2012 12:56:54 AM
Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 30: A month after elections for four seats of Legislative Council, the commitment of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of a cabinet reshuffle is in question again. The political lull in this regard suggests that the Chief Minister is not interested in undertaking the much awaited reshuffle as he does not want to lose ministries which he has acquired after two Congress ministers lost their portfolios following controversies. During the campaigning for MLC elections the chief minister had hinted at cabinet reshuffle and asked all MLAs of coalition aspirants of ministerial berth, to work hard to get votes for coalition candidates, but despite thumping victory of the coalition candidates, government has got busy in preparing for the celebrations of completion of four years in the office and Chief minister is away in London preparing for new year bash. ET had reported that CM's assurances of cabinet reshuffle was only a political gimmick and government actually had no plans of reshuffle in near future. Few MLAs of Congress party believe that if the reshuffle...

Early Times Report Srinagar, Dec 30: While rampant corruption in Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) is a no secret, an illiterate person who was appointed as a mechanic in 1976 rose to the level of manager maintenance, a post held by an engineering degree holder. Sources said Harcharan Singh who retired last year as manager maintenance managed his promotions by greasing palms of the higher ups in the Corporation from time to time. "There is a case going on against Harcharan in the Crime Branch for the last so many years, but due to his close proximity with higher ups, no action has been taken against him so far," they added. The Crime Branch in its letter number...

'It is modified form of Autonomy, Self Rule'

'B-teams' in Jammu & Kashmir
NC, JKNPP
12/31/2012 12:54:01 AM
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 30: On Saturday, Political Advisor to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Devender Singh Rana contemptuously dismissed Jammu & Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) as "B-team" of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). It was obvious that he based his formulation on the very cordial relations between the JKNPP leaders like MLA from Ramnagar and former Education Minister Harsh Dev Singh and PDP leaders like Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti. There is no doubt that the relations between the JKNPP leadership and the PDP leadership have all along been very cordial and that neither the JKNPP nor the PDP has ever spoken against each other even after June 28, 2008, w...
