Jammu, Feb 25: Two days after radical groups attacked a police station exposing lawlessness Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann broke his silence, the demand for imposing President’s rule in the state gained momentum.
Amid violent protests in Punjab over the arrest of Amritpal Singh's aide Lovepreet Toofan, Prakash Singh, the former Uttar Pradesh director general of police (DGP) has asked the central government to implement President’s Rule in the state. Tagging the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Twitter, he also urged the centre to send in strong Governors and Advisors who come with a security background to tackle the situation in Punjab.
In a tweet, Singh wrote, “There is no time to lose. G0I should declare President's Rule in Punjab, and send a strong Governor and Advisors who have security background. @PMO_ NaMo#@HMOIndia”
Many security experts have warned that if a non-serious person like Bhagwant Mann is allowed to be Chief Minister of Punjab, the state will return to the earlier 1980s situation.

Jammu, Feb 25: Even as the Bharatiya Janta Party leaders are evading questions over the prospective imposition of the property tax in Jammu and Kashmir, the JK leadership of the party is set to discuss the matter threadbare in the national capital.
Sources said the BJP leaders have had a verbal discussion with their seniors in the national leadership and that it was resolved that the matter be brought to the notice of the union Home Minister Amit Shah in particular.
Sources said a delegation of the party leaders from Jammu and Kashmir will be visiting the national capital for detailed meetings in the coming days.

Jammu, Feb 25: Amid protest by opposition parties, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said citizens’ welfare is the foremost priority of the Government, and property tax will ensure the financial self-sustainability of cities and the improvement of public amenities in the Union Territory.

Jammu, Feb 25: With the narco-terror emerging as a major threat in Jammu and Kashmir, the security and intelligence agencies are set to keep eye on bank transactions apprehended to be linked to “drug trafficking.”
Highly placed sources said the State Investigative Agency is likely to take over the case for a “large scale scrutiny of the bank accounts apprehended to be linked to narco-terror.”
