The gross indiscipline and violation of whip was clearly reflected as some “Congress corporators” apparently cross-voted to elect the BJP candidate as Mayor of the Jammu Municipal Corporation.
It may be mentioned here that the Congress the single largest entity in the Jammu Municipal Corporation and it also enjoys support of two member of the partner Peoples Democratic Party. Despite being numerically strong, this is second time that the Congress has lost Mayor’s post to the BJP due to cross voting.

Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has welcomed the release of Kashmir Singh from Pakistani jail after 35 years, saying it was a good beginning towards the release of other Indian prisoners in the neighbouring country's prisons.
Talking with media persons on the sidelines of the concluding day of the 3rd All India Police Martyrs' Hockey Tournament here today, the Chief Minister said that he hoped the release of Kashmir Singh would herald the release of other prisoners as well.

Bollywood heart throb Rani Mukherjee today arrived at Katra along with four relatives here today to pay obescience to Mata Vaishno Devi.
She arrived Katra at 4:30 pm On her arrival, large number of fans gathered around and welcomed her. She lodged at Hotel White Orchid.
She was expected to visit bhavan during night time on foot.
