Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 5 Serious questions have cropped up on the nature and purpose of visit and also the authority which permitted as leading Pakistani lawyer and human rights activists Asma Jahangir is arriving in Jammu and Kashmir. Asma, who is also chairperson of the Pakistan Human Rights Commissioner, is likely to be here tomorrow or day after. It is learnt that she is coming here as repporteur of the United Nations. Her visit to Jammu and Kashmir in capacity of a UN representative can have very serious repercussions as Pakistan many not allow reciprocal visit of any Indian citizen carrying UN mandate to any part of Pakistan including its occupied Kashmir. Even though the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has feigned ignorance of the matter and assured to look into the nature of travel permission, the visiting Pakistan activist today called on the Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti in New Delhi and apprised her of the visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 5 Rubbing shoulder with Delhi’s new power-man Saif-ud-Din Soz, the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today told Jammu farmers that the loan waiver of Rs. 60,000 crore proposed in the union budget for farmers was a historic decision taken by the United Progressive Alliance government to address the plight of farmers in the country. Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 5 Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has welcomed the release of Kashmir Singh from Pakistani jail after 35 years, saying it was a good beginning towards the release of other Indian prisoners in the neighbouring country's prisons. Talking with media persons on the sidelines of the concluding day of the 3rd All India Police Martyrs' Hockey Tournament here today, the Chief Minister said that he hoped the release of Kashmir Singh would herald the release of other prisoners as well. Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 5 Bollywood heart throb Rani Mukherjee today arrived at Katra along with four relatives here today to pay obescience to Mata Vaishno Devi. She arrived Katra at 4:30 pm On her arrival, large number of fans gathered around and welcomed her. She lodged at Hotel White Orchid. She was expected to visit bhavan during night time on foot.
