| Four more Indians confirmed dead in Oman cyclone | | | |

Four more Indians have died in the devastating cyclone that hit Oman early this week, taking the toll of Indians to six even as six others remain missing.
The bodies of Prithvi Pal Singh, Prempal Singh (both from Punjab), Anil Kumar of Ottapalam at Palakkad in Kerala and Sarawana Kumar Pillai have been found, Minister of State for External Affairs E Ahamed told reporters here.
Details about Pillai is not known as only an ID card has been recovered from his body, he said.

As India made a fresh proposal to break logjam in talks on the civil nuclear deal, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee asked Washington not to ‘transfer its problems’ to New Delhi.
Emphasising that reprocessing right was ‘absolutely necessary’ for India, Mukherjee maintained that the government would not like the nuclear cooperation agreement to have any impact on the country's indigenous strategic programme.
"They (the US) say that they have some problems. We say do not transfer your problems to us," he told Karan Thapar's 'Devil's Advocate' programme when referred to Washington's reluctance to grant the reprocessing right.

Pakistan is set to participate in a global initiative announced by the US and Russia to combat nuclear terrorism, but keeping its military nuclear programme outside its ambit, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said.
"While joining the initiative, Pakistan has declared that the Global Initiative does not cover Pakistan's military nuclear facilities or activities," Pakistan Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in a statement yesterday.
The global initiative, which was jointly announced by the US and Russia at the July 2006 G-8 Summit in St Petersburg, aims at developing international cooperation to combat nuclear terrorism.

Relatives of missing Indian prisoners of war today said the evidence collected during their visit to Pakistani jails has reinforced their belief that their loved ones are languishing in this country and asked President Pervez Musharraf to order an investigation to help locate them.

Jammu and Kashmir Police have ordered a probe into the circumstances that forced an accused in Ramgarh Police Station, near Jammu, to commit suicide.
Gurnam Singh, 25, of Jandrah village on the India-Pakistan international border in Ramgarh area, about 40 Kms southwest of Jammu, was found hanging from a ceiling fan Saturday.
He was charged with the murder of a woman Rajinder Kaur of his village.
