Azad directs completion of Indira Gandhi Dental College in triple shifts

JAMMU, AUGUST 09 – Creation of modern and sophisticated health care facilities for the people both in urban and rural areas is one of the priorities of the government and measures have already been taken in this direction, said Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad while laying foundation of Indira Gandhi Government Dental College here on Wednesday. Azad directed the authorities to execute the construction work on the college complex in triple shifts to complete it within one year instead of three years time frame fixed for its completion. He said the college complex to be constructed over an area of 23 kanals at a cost of Rs. 14.67 crore should come up as one of the best institutions in whole of the country especially in terms of infrastructure, implants and dental care. He said that the multi-storeyed complex housing academic block, boys and girls hostels and residential quarters for the staff needs to be constructed as an engineering marvel and another landmark in the winter capital of the state. Flood situation in Ladakh still grim

Jammu, Aug 9: Flood situation in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir continued to be grim with no let up in torrential rains while four foreign tourists and over 2000 locals were evacuated to safety by the army, defence sources said today. Four tourists from the United States, marooned in the Zanskar Valley, were evacuated to safer places by the army which has launched a massive rescue and relief operations in the affected areas, they said. Over 2000 people have been evacuated and shifted to tents pitched by army at Angling, Mphayang and Chuchuit in Leh division, after being stranded for nearly a week.
