Police registers case against doctor for negligence

EARLY TIMES REPORTER Jammu | AugUST 20 Gandhi Nagar Police has registered a case of negligence against a doctor and paramedical staff of Gandhi Nagar government Hospital after they give overdose medicine to a seven year child who died this afternoon. Sources informed that Sushant S/O Praveen Kumar of Chatta was brought to Ghandi Nagar Hospital with the complain of gastroenteritis early this morning. Doctors on duty, according to family members admitted the child and keep him under observation for some time, and later a doctor who according to them was on duty prescribed injection for the boy and directs his paramedical staff on duty to give him an injection. It was learnt from family members of the child that an overdosed injection was given to him after which he fell unconscious. However the reason of unconsciousness was not immediately known. This magical event was witnessed at Shiv temple in situated in Bhour Pind, Chattha near here today. Cabinet likely to clear quota bill tomorrow

New Delhi | AugUST 20 A meeting of the Cabinet scheduled for tomorrow is likely to clear a bill providing 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs) in government-aided institutions of higher learning. The Cabinet is likely to consider only the legislation concerning aided institutions like IITs and IIMs, though the Human Resource Development Ministry has also prepared a draft bill regarding quotas in unaided universities, official sources said. The government's urgency in delinking the unaided institutions from the process was aimed at getting the quota bill pertaining to aided institutions passed as the monsoon session of Parliament will end on August 25.
