SRINAGAR, Aug 28: PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Wednesday said she will not contest the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, pointing out that she would not be able to fulfil her party’s agenda in the union territory set up even if she were to become the chief minister.
I have been chief minister of a government with the BJP which revoked FIRs against 12,000 persons (in 2016). Can we do that now? I, as the chief minister of a government with (PM) Modi, wrote a letter to separatists to invite them for talks. Can you do that today? I got a ceasefire (implemented) on ground. Can you do that today? If you cannot take back an FIR as chief minister, what does one do with such a post?” she said.

Angry BJP workers force Raina to cut short speech over ticket distribution | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 28: Jammu and Kashmir BJP president Ravinder Raina on Wednesday was forced to cut short his speech by angry workers seeking explanation over denial of ticket to party leader Rohit Dubey from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat in Reasi district. Dubey’s name was replaced in the revised list of candidates with former MLA Baldev Raj Sharma.
Raina rushed to Katra where Dubey’s supporters had come out on the roads and blocked the highway outside the newly set up party office to protest the party’s decision to field Sharma in his place.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi seat is going to polls along with 25 other segments in the second phase on September 25.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has strengthened RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s security by upping his existing ‘Z+’ armed protection to the more robust Advanced Security Liaison (ASL) protocol.
This upgrade involves augmenting the security measures currently provided by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel.
The ASL status brings Bhagwat’s security level on par with that of Home Minister Amit Shah.
Officials said that the new directions were issued on August 16 considering fresh threat analysis report submitted to the MHA by the Intelligence Bureau.
