Jammu, Sept 12: A Head Constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police has been booked for allegedly taking bribe to the tune of Rs 25,000 to temper investigation report during his tenure as Investigation Officer (IO) in Gandhi Nagar police station and beating an old man when he was Munshi in Pacca Danga police station.
Identified as Head Constable Rahmat Ullah, presently posted as Munshi in City Police station today landed in lock up of Pacca Danga police station after SSP Jammu Prabhat Singh personally intervened into the matter and reopened two years old inquiry report from SP Headquarters. In the inquiry report the Head Constable was reported as corrupt cop who temper the investigation report.
SSP Jammu Prabhat Sigh when contacted confirmed the reports and said that he was arrested for misusing his official position on two occasions. The cop has been arrested and lodged in P/S Pacca Danga in connection with tampering of R/C in the said case for which Case FIR No. 10/2012 under Sections 420/467/ 468/ 471 /120-B RPC has been registered against the HC in P/S Gandhi Nagar, in which it has been proved that he has tampered the record of registration of Motor Cycle from No.5941/JK02AB to No.5941/JK02AD in lieu of monetary considerations.
As per police a report was received at P/S Gandhi Nagar that a Motor Cycle bearing registration No.5941/JK02AB has met with an accident on 07.02.2009. following which a case under FIR No.46/2009 u/s 279/337/RPC was registered and investigation entrusted to HC Rehmat Ullah No.1272/J, who during the course of investigation entered into conspiracy and changed the Registration No. of the accidental motor cycle to 5941/JK02AD. The said IO with criminal intention and deceitful dishonest manner demanded Rs. 60,000/- from the accused party (Sh. Parvinder Singh son of S.Pritam Singh resident of Khaspur Arnia) whose motor cycle bearing No.5941/JK02AB was involved in the accident for showing favour to them by tampering the number of the vehicle but the final deal was struck on Rs. 30,000/- out of which Rs. 25,000/- received by HC Rehmat Ullah No.1272/J as illegal gratification while Rs 5000/-were given to Laxmi Kumar son of Daya Ram resident of Netar Kotian Barnai, Muthi who was the owner of the motor cycle No.5941/JK02AD falsely implicated into the case.
Meanwhile, despite paying the amount, Parvinder Singh feelings harassed for questioning approached Vigilance Organization Jammu (VOJ) with a complaint which has been further endorsed to District Police Jammu and an inquiry under the then DySP Hqrs Jammu got initiated. The inquiry report submitted said Investigating Officer (IO) has actually tampered with the record, following which a case FIR No. 10/2012 u/s 420/467/ 468/ 471 /120-B RPC was registered at PS Pacca Danga against HC Rehmat Ullah No.1272/J, and entrusted to the then SP Hqrs Jammu. On the basis of report and investigation HC Rehmat Ullah No.1272/J was arrested and further investigation is going on.
