9/20/2012 11:53:54 PM
early time report
Srinagar, Sept 20 (KNS): “A group of 16 persons armed with deadly weapons with intention to commit a murder attacked B.A 2nd year student who is struggling for his life in SKIMS institute. Police till date have showed reluctance in arresting the accused person who is believed to have political influence”, alleged the relative of the victim while holding a protest demonstration at press enclave here today. According to the relatives, Naseer Ahmad Dar S/o: Ghulam Qadir Dar R/o: Hoakbara Kosam Sumbul Sonawari was attacked by his neighbors when he was leaving his home to appear in B.A bi-annual paper Arabic on Monday. The assailants have been identified by eye witnesses as Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, Gulam Ahmad Bhat, M. Ashraf Bhat, Abid Ahmad Wagay, Ghulam Ahmad Bhat and M. Aamir Bhat.
“Naseer was attacked with the deadly weapons and beaten ruthlessly. The persons who appeared in group suddenly attacked Naseer with knives and axes. He sustained major injuries on head, arm, neck, legs and on back” said an eye witness Showkat Ahmad Mir to KNS. “Lateef was shouting for the help but due to terror of these persons no one dared to come forward” he added.
Younger brother of Naseer was busy with studies in his room at home when he heard the crying of his brother and rushed for his rescue. “I was studying in my room. I heard noise outside of my home and felt that some one is dead. I quickly opened the window of my room and was shocked to our neighbors beating my elder brother. I came out for his rescue” said Naseer. “When the accused persons saw me coming out some of them chased me with knives and axes and I ran for my life and took shelter in the house of my neighbor M. Sheeraz Khan” he added.
He, with tearful eyes, said that after some youth dared to come forward for the rescue of his brother reached him to sub district hospital where he was refered to SKIMS. “My father and mother were also ruthlessly beaten. Their some parts of body are also fractured and doctors at SKIMS have declared my brother’s condition critical” Lateef said while weeping loudly. Asked if they have filed the case in concern police station “We have made the written complaint in police station Hajin and the eye witnesses of the offence have voluntarily asked police to pen down their statement” he replied. “Police is doing nothing and the offenders are at liberty to harass us and to kill us under the protection of police” he added. Local residents of the Hoakbara expressed their dissatisfaction with the police action and said that the offenders under the political influence enjoy immunity from police action under law. “Police is playing on the tunes of politicians. They (Police) is reluctant to take any action under law against the offenders because they have contact with high push ups” said a local resident Ghulam Nabi. “Being poor in this police state should be declared as crime by these anti socialist politicians as offenders are more lovable to them (Politicians)” he added. Meanwhile the classmates of the Naseer held peaceful protests in the Press Enclave Srinagar demanding stern action against the offenders.
