| Factionalism growing in State Cong | | Soz loyalist Minister seeks entry in Azad camp | | ET Report
jammu, Sept 27: The dissidence in State Congress is increasing with more and more leaders from Saif-ud-Din-Soz camp shifting their loyalty to Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's camp.
According to sources the leaders in Soz camp feel dejected with increasing importance of Azad in the AICC affairs and his close proximity to Nehru-Gandhi family. Sources said Mr Azad who is on the tour of State at present to assess the situation in the State has also met many of Soz loyalists in Srinagar and at Jammu.
Sources said with increasing popularity of Mr Azad some of the Ministers having proximity with PCC chief and former Union Minister Saif-Ud-Din-Soz are using mediators to break peace with Azad in view of his increasing importance in AICC and high command.
Sources said that one of the Cabinet Ministers from Congress who was not seeing eye to eye with Azad and had shifted his loyalty to Soz group now feels dejected. The Minister has utilized the services of a bureaucrat who was recently transferred to his Ministry to break peace with Azad. This bureaucrat who is in good books of Mr Azad has also assured the Minister that he will act as a mediator between the two. Sources said that to please the bureaucrat, the Minister has given him additional powers and all files come through him even by passing senior bureaucrat.
Sources said some more leaders in Soz camp are trying to switch loyalty to Azad.
The groupism in party has reached to such an extent that both Mr Azad and Soz visited Jammu on same day and organized parallel meeting to outwit each other.
However, one senior Minister of the party from Kashmir who is neither close to Soz faction nor Azad camp is working independent of two groups. Instead the Minister is more close to Chief Minister and National Conference.
The Minister is also on war path with a senior Congress leader and Azad loyalist though both belong to same district in Kashmir valley. |
