Jammu continues to beg for Government attention
World Tourism Day

Early Times Report
jammu, Sept 27: The world tourism day celebrated across the country of Sep 27 must come as a reminder to the State to correct its Kashmir centric skewed tourism policy which believes Jammu and also Ladakh as fringe and non-descript tourism entity.
About 7-lakh tourists had visited valley but about one-crore people visit Jammu to pay pilgrimage to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi. This is more than 10-time the number of tourists coming to Srinagar.
And a sizeable percent of these pilgrims visits tourists spots of Jammu like Patnitop, Sanasar, Mansar and Sruinsar to name a few.
If just a 10-percent of these pilgrim visit these places as tourists even than this number is more than all the tourists that have visited Valley this summer.
But even then the funds for development of these places are not only meager but even conditions of infrastructure haven't been improved upon.
Dal has received about Rs 400 crores for cleaning and resettlement of people living there. In comparison it the plan of Mansar and Surinsar is not more than Rs 10 crores clubbed together
Even though the area of Dal may be more than the combined area of these two lakes but so this is widening gap in fiancés for their development.
The only place that has been brought to lime light is Patnitop. But the lack of planning and total disregard to keep the ecological sanctity has left the place now where it was about 10-yr back and to top it all even nomads have settled down there and administration turning blind eye.
The near by Sansar has not received any attention it deserves.
The administration has totally ignored to highlight Bani, Basholi, Paddar and other areas of Jammu region which can give run for money to any place in the Valley.
Even though the tourism minister is doing his best but keys lie with Chief Minister and whose preferences are known to all rather than to be discussed.
Government feels that developing tourism is just a political burden rather than a duty. It's for this reason that in the promotion campaign across the world the only place which finds place is Shri Mata Vaishno Devi.
The point being missed is that its religious not tourist and people will come there even if you don't advertise it. The places which needs to be promoted are deliberately ignored as to keep attention and focus of perpetual practice of cleaning up Dal.
