JAMMU, Oct 6 : As a part of efforts of the government to provide better health care facility to common people, especially living in far-flung and remote areas of the state, Minister for Health, Horticulture and Floriculture, Sham Lal Sharma on Saturday said that more reforms will be brought in the health department to improve the healthcare facilities across the state. The Minister was addressing a largely attended public meeting after inaugurating a 2-day health mela at Agar Majoor block Chowki Choura Akhnoor organized by block health department in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services Jammu. During the mela, the specialists including Medicine, ENT, Child Specialist, Malaria, Surgery, Ortho, ECG and Ultrasound provided their services to the ailing besides giving them free medicine. Sham said the government has initiated revolutionary steps to upgrade the overall health scenario in the state and the change is visible on ground. He appealed the doctors and para medics to put in their best efforts to maintain the distinguished position achieved by the state healthcare system. He said medical is a noble profession and everyone associated with this must maintain its high ethics and serve the patient with missionary zeal. Appreciating the efforts of health department for organizing such type of programmes in hilly and for off areas, the Minister hoped that these type of health programmes will continue with the same spirit and missionary zeal. On the occasion, the Minister also distributed 1100 Amla saplings to the farmers free of cost through J&K State Medicinal Plants Board. Among others Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Madhu Khullar, Mission Director NRHM, Dr Yash Pal Sharma, ISM Director, A K Dar, Director Floriculture, K K Sharma, Joint Director Horticulture, Deputy Director ISM, Kashmir Singh, Deputy Director, AIDs and Control Society, Research Officer J&K SMPB, Dr Aftab Mir, all sectoral officers, senior doctors, sarpanchs and panchs and prominent people of the areas were present on the occasion. |
