Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 6: In the one upmanship 'show' seen lately in the Ministry of Cooperatives with authorities at the helm in Jammu Citizen's Cooperative Bank, one more interesting event is in offing that is likely to turn the present scenario of 'war of nerves' between the Minister concerned and newly elected chairman interesting. For even though the premise of the event is to organise a gala function based on awareness of Cooperative movement related aspects to public but what makes it all the more interesting is that it would be supported by a political party.
Sources said a rally cum cooperative movement related gala function is being organized under the stewardship of Chairman of JCCB Dinesh Gupta in Billawar area of Jammu. Interestingly, Billawar happens to be political constituency of the Minister of Cooperatives Dr Manohar Lal Sharma. What makes the function all the more important is that it is thoroughly been supported by PDP and the senior local leaders have already begun preparations to turn it a grand function and successful on all counts. It is pertinent to mention here that soon after his election as chairman of the Board of Directors, Dinesh Gupta joined PDP in a simple yet significant private function which besides all other senior leaders of PDP was attended by the PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Syeed himself.
The views of both the Minister and the chairman have been seen diagonally opposed in so far as the functioning of this prestigious Bank is concerned. The differences with regard to key aspects , as also in conducting the polls for Board of Directors between the two came to fore recently when the elections were held in the Bank. While the Government tried to stall the proceedings of the polls , for some apparent reasons, which though proved to be inadequate in legal terms to stop conducting of the elections, the newly elected chief minced no words in saying out rightly that there was too much of interference from the Government in the working of the Bank that was impeding progress of the Bank.
However, support of PDP to the entire show is being seen as some vital political development and yet another step of the party to make inroads in the key political constituencies of Jammu.
